| Cheung Annual Fund for the Truman EFL Internship in China |
| This annual fund was created in 2013 by Mr. Chi Cheung of Jefferson City, MO, to provide opportunity for talented and deserving students to participate in The Truman EFL Internship in the Peoples Republic of China. Truman students who participate in this internship opportunity teach English at Shuizhai High School, Da Tian Village Elementary School and Da Jin Middle School. Interns also converse informally with English faculty at these schools to improve their listening and speaking skills in addition to serving as authorities on American culture. |

| Dr. Victor E. Childers International Study Award |
| This scholarship was established in 1997 by Dr. Victor E. Childers ('55), of Indianapolis, to promote study abroad and to assist those students in need of financial support. Dr. Childers has traveled extensively internationally. |

| Donna Crawford |
| This scholarship was established in memory of Donna Crawford by her husband, Don, and her mother, Elsie Smith. Mrs. Crawford died in March of 1982 after battling cancer. She had served as an instructor of French at Truman from 1967 to 1982. |

| This scholarship was established by the German Club in 1985. It was funded through gifts and by annual sales of German Advent calendars. |

| Vera Gomez-Piper Endowed |
| This scholarship was established through a fundraising appeal led by Lucy Lee, professor of Spanish and Ruth Bradshaw, assistant professor emerita of English. Vera earned a BSE at the University of Costa Rica in 1964, prior to her enrollment at then Northeast Missouri State College where she completed a BSE in 1969 in addition to an MA in Education/Guidance in 1979. Vera taught at all levels of the Spanish program and implemented the foreign language tutoring program. It was also during these transformative early years of her career at Truman that she established the Costa Rica Summer Study Abroad Program, a program that has become nearly synonymous with Vera herself. The Vera Gomez-Piper Endowed Scholarship has been established to recognize the remarkable contributions that Vera has made to Truman and to countless students’ lives. Through education, she has helped eliminate the barriers of language while increasing an understanding of the traditions, history and values of two distinct cultures. Vera has not only built skills, knowledge and confidence among her students, but has built lasting and meaningful relationships between her students, her colleagues and the people of two nations that she now calls home.

| Holman Family Study Abroad |
| This scholarship fund was established in 2008 to commemorate the Holman family's long association with Truman State University. The home of Squire Paul and Meeda (Daniel) Holman was located at 1001 South Florence Street, near campus, and the family opened their home to numerous Truman students over the years. Paul served on the Truman staff, working as a custodian at Magruder Hall. They influenced their children, Charles, Wilmer and Vinita, to pursue a college education and had a positive impact on many Truman students' lives through their long association. Scholarships consist of the interest earnings on a $1 million gift to this fund made during the Bright Minds Bright Futures Campaign. |

| The Ittner Family Study Abroad |
| The Ittner Family Study Abroad Scholarship was created by Chad Ittner (1994) in honor of his parents, Tom and Lisa Ittner; his grandmother, Pauline Ittner; and uncle, Roger Ittner, who made it possible for him to study abroad during his time at Truman State University. Mr. Ittners study abroad experience helped shape his view of the world and gave him an appreciation for different cultures. It also helped him better understand and value the importance of a liberal arts education by being able to apply what he learned at Truman to real life experiences during his travels to Europe. It also ignited a passion for travel which he pursues on a regular basis. He hopes that this scholarship will help others have the same type of experience and initiate a desire to learn more about the world and gain a deeper appreciation of different cultures while also fostering a sense of adventure to travel to foreign countries. |

| Dr. Cornelis Koutstaal Study Abroad |
| This scholarship was established and fully endowed by Mrs. Murilyn Koutstaal of Kirksville, Mo., in honor of her late husband, Dr. Cornelis (Kees) Koutstaal. Dr. Koutstaal served as professor of communication disorders and head of the Human Potential and Performance Division at the University from 1990-2001, and was honored with emeritus status upon his retirement. He authored many papers concerning speech and hearing processes that were published in professional journals. A native of the Netherlands, Dr. Koutstaal also presented at conferences, conducted international lecture tours and produced two films on deaf education. He was an active member of Rotary International, supporting many international study and service trips. |

| Wilma and Mark Maddox Study Abroad |
| This scholarship fund was established in 2007 by Wilma and Mark Maddox of Macon, MO in recognition of their lifelong connection with Truman State University. Wilma Maddox has served as a member of the Board of Governors since 1994. Both of their daughters, Sarah ('06) and Rebecca ('07), participated in Truman's study abroad program. They plan to create the fund with a gift of $25,000 through the University's first-ever capital campaign. |

| Dr. Maren Partenheimer Memorial |
| This permanent scholarship program was established in 2012 by an anonymous donor in honor and memory of Dr. Maren Partenhemer. Dr. Partenheimer joined the German faculty at Truman State University in 1986 and taught through the spring of 1997. After a courageous struggle with cancer, she died in May of 1997. While at Truman, Dr. Partenheimer strove consistently to improve and expand opportunities for students in German curriculum and initiated a successful study abroad program in Kiel, Germany. |

| Danette L. Rardon Study Abroad |
| Danette L. Rardon ('00) of Chillicothe, Missouri, created this fund in 2010 to support students with costs related to a study abroad experience. Ms. Rardon was a senior vice president and trust officer with Citizens Bank & Trust in Chillicothe and served on the Truman State University Foundation Board. She provided a number of scholarships to be awarded annually. Tragically, she was killed in a car accident in 2017 at the age of 39. |

| Rigdon Family Study Abroad |
| The Larry and Janet Rigdon Business Excellence fund was established in 2011 by Larry ('70) and Janet ('71) Rigdon through the Truman State University Foundation to help perpetrate the University's tradition of producing high-quality graduates for business careers.
A successful entrepreneur, Larry Rigdon began his career in public accounting and advanced to become one of the nation's premier leaders in the offshore marine services industry. A Kirksville native, Larry has worked around the globe, including Egypt, Mexico and Southeast Asia. During his career, he progressed through a series of management positions at several companies as the offshore marine service industry experienced significant consolidations during the 1980s and 1990s. As the executive vice president of Tidewater, one of the world's largest marine-services providers, Larry was responsible for operations in areas including the United States, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union, among others.
By 2002, Larry had started his own offshore marine services company which came to be known as Rigdon Marine. He sold the company in June 2008 to GulfMark Offshore for an enterprise value of $585 million. That same year, Larry was named Entrepreneur of the Year for Offshore Marine Services by Ernst & Young. Larry has remained active in the industry and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Terresolve Technologies. He previously served on the Board of GulfMark Offshore and is active in several industry organizations.
In addition to earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting and business administration from Truman in 1970, Larry is a graduate of the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. Larry recently visited the Truman campus to present the Commencement address at Truman's Graduation Ceremony on May 7, 2011.
Janet Rigdon received a bachelor of science degree from Truman in 1971 and has volunteered with many community and non-profit organizations including the Truman State University Alumni Association and St. Martin's Episcopal School in Metairie, La.

| To prepare students for an ever-changing global society, Truman encourages its students to study overseas. The University offers programs ranging from three weeks to one year with study in 48 countries. These learning experiences produce a wide range of benefits--encouraging students to be more accepting of other cultures and ideas, removing barriers to working with people from different backgrounds, and enriching the lives of students through exposure to other cultures. Participation in these programs requires commitment--financial and otherwise, on the part of students. These experiences are an essential component in the preparation of the future leaders of our country. |
